Fraud warning

Share fraud and investment scams

In recent years many companies have become aware that shareholders have received unsolicited phone calls or correspondence concerning investment matters.

Shareholders are advised to be very wary of any unsolicited advice and offers to buy shares. Please do not give any personal details to any caller unless you are certain that they are genuine.

Spot the warning signs

If you’ve been contacted unexpectedly, or are suspicious about a call or message, make sure you stop and check the warning signs:

  • Is the call or message unexpected?
  • Do you feel pressured to act quickly?
  • Does the offer sound too good to be true?
  • Is the offer exclusively for you?
  • Are they trying to flatter you?
  • Are you feeling worried or excited?
  • Are they speaking with authority?
